13th World LG Cup Round 2, Lee Chang Hao v. Cho Chi Kun

Both Lee 9p and Cho 9p are legendary pro players. However, recently Lee Chang Hao 9p scored 3 wins in a row against Cho 9p in world tournaments.

1

B 15 is a moyo move. It looks more like a move by the famous Takamiya rather than Lee Chang Hao.

2

White 20 is an interesting choice. Playing at A is more usual.

3

Black immediately made a cross-cut by 21 and 23. Very aggressive.

4

After a short fighting, black played at 45, a very territorial move. So… Lee Chang Hao was still being himself.

5

Now it is black’s turn to reduce white’s moyo. Lee 9p chose to play at 51. A is also a good alternative.

6

Black 67 is a very nice tesuji. Because M18 is sente for black, it is hard for white to find a response here.

7_2

Again, black played an aggressive move. White has to choose between A and B. I think it would probably be better for white to play at B and give up the two stones.

7

However, white chose A and saved his two stones. After white made the connection move at 88, black showed another tesuji at 89.

9

White resigned when black played 113. Now it is impossible for white to capture either of black’s groups, and he does not have enough territory.

W+R (SGF record coming soon)
