Continued from previous post…

Black decided that it is risky to attack White’s invading stone directly. Instead, he chose to capture white’s Q18 and took a huge profit in the corner. It’s likely still an even exchange because black can still possibly gain more from attacking this white group.

White played 90,92, and 96 trying to make 2 eyes so he did not need to run out. Black played 97 to destroy white’s eye shape. However, it is probably a small mistake because white had a nice counter move at 98. If black responds at T14, then white R14, B R15, W R13, then white’s group is alive with the sente at T13.

Black chose to give up some territory in the corner to destroy white’s eye shape. Still, most observers were surprised that black played at 103 because usually one would not sacrifice so many points if the profit from attacking was uncertain.

After some exchanges, black finally starts the attacking at 125. White now has a small lead on territory, but he cannot let black profit too much from this attack…

White 132 is likely a small mistake. Black 133 and 135 are very strong moves, and 137 is a nice tesuji. Now white’s big group is really in danger.

Finally, when his group does not have enough eyes and there is no way out in the center, white detonated the bomb at 148. If black responds at R15, white would make a Ko at T16. This Ko is very heavy for both players…
